Reblogged from The Secular Jurist:
FERGUSON MISSOURI – Missouri authorities are drawing up contingency plans and seeking intelligence from U.S. police departments on out-of-state agitators, fearing that fresh riots could erupt if a grand jury does not indict a white officer for killing a black teen.
The plans are being thrashed out in meetings being held two to three times a week, according to people who have attended them. The FBI said it was also involved in the discussions.

The population of Ferguson, Missouri is over two-thirds Black. In the 2010 census, Whites comprised less than 30% of the town’s residents. So, it would be logical to assume the city government would reflect those racial demographics.
But, that assumption would be completely wrong. The mayor of Ferguson is white, five of the six city council members are white, 50 of its 53 police officers are white, and the local school board is 100% white.
Stark Racial Divisions in Reactions to Ferguson Police Shooting
Blacks and whites have sharply different reactions to the police shooting of an unarmed teen in Ferguson, Mo., and the protests and violence that followed. Blacks are about twice as likely as whites to say that the shooting of Michael Brown “raises important issues about race that need to be discussed.” Wide racial differences also are evident in opinions about of whether local police went too far in the aftermath of Brown’s death, and in confidence in the investigations into the shooting.

Police action in Ferguson last night
Tanya’s Comment: The scene takes place in Ferguson, Missouri. As can be seen in the video, the crowd is peacefully gathered in protest over the killing of unarmed 18-year-old black youth Michael Brown by a Ferguson police officer. They were simply chanting and singing when Ferguson police, after issuing a warning, commenced an attack. The attack consisted of non-lethal, but still painful, weapons including rubber bullets, smoke grenades, tear gas, and sonic crowd control devices (extremely loud, high pitched beeps that hurt the ear). It’s important to note that even as the attack began, members of the crowd held their hands up to communicate that they meant no harm to the officers.
This is a shameful chapter of American history.
Note: If the video doesn’t play from this blog, go to the “view original” link below the video.
The police ordered all TV crews to leave the scene—quite obviously because the police did not want a record of what they were about to do. But KARG Argus Radio stayed with a camera and recorded what looks very much like a police attack on angry but peaceful protesters. This is amazing footage, taken in Ferguson MO last night:
