  1. I can see where both sides are coming from in the debate. I see the wisdom in advocating for your shared common humanity but I also see the wisdom in being proud of your racial makeup or other characteristics. Perhaps it is more people saying while they are still proud of who they are, they just don’t want to be defined or stereotyped by that. Then again I can see people feeling the very fact they don’t want to be labeled or defined a certain way suggest they are not fully accepting of themselves and others who share that trait. It does make for an interesting societal discussion.
